Rosa J. Young Museum is Dedicated

Concordia College and Alabama Lutheran Academy alumni paid tribute to Concordia founder Rosa J. Young last Friday as they dedicated the new and improved Rosa J. Young Museum on the college’s Broad Street campus.

The museum had previously been located on the college’s Franklin Street campus. However, it was decided by the alumni association to relocate the museum to a newer, larger building on the college’s West Campus. After months of preparation and moving, the new location was finally dedicated on Friday, May 12 among alumni and friends alike.

Mrs. Gracie Hollins, museum director and alumnus of Alabama Lutheran Academy, worked tirelessly for months to achieve the remodel in order to pay proper tribute to the college’s honorable founder.

Celebrating Our Students

一道本不卡免费高清Concordia will have a special day dedicated to students as a way to say “thank you” for their hard work and loyalty as a CCA Hornet.

The event has been deemed Student Appreciation Day and will take place on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on the West Campus lawn. The celebration will include performances from the Magnificent Marching Hornets Band and cheerleaders; the event will also include free food, music and games, such as a tug-of-war contest and HBCU “Campus-Wide Wobble” challenge.

All students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited and encouraged to attend the event.

Alumni Gather for Annual Reunion

The CCA National Association of Alumni and Friends recently held their annual Alumni Gathering on June 24-26. Alumni of all ages were able to mix, mingle and reconnect at this eventful weekend, which included a meet and greet, picnic, banquet and worship service.  Seven of the association’s national chapters were represented at the gathering.

A business meeting was also held to discuss the association’s plans for the year. Throughout the year, the Alumni Association hosts several events for the college, including the Founder’s Day celebration, homecoming hospitality lounge, and gospel concerts. In addition to hosting various alumni events, the Alumni Association also raises generous funds to support the college. This year, they donated more than $23,000.

This year’s alumni banquet was a bittersweet occasion, as Mrs. Minnie McMillan, Director of Alumni Affairs, was honored for her retirement after working with the Alumni Association since 1980.
