一道本不卡免费高清After wrapping up its highest enrolled summer term yet, Concordia College Alabama is preparing for a new school year, anticipating a significant increase in enrollment for the 2017 fall semester. The college has already more than doubled the amount applications received in previous years, and continues to enroll students on a daily basis.
一道本不卡免费高清Director of Recruitment, Norman Richards, led the admissions team in an aggressive recruiting strategy that resulted in significantly increasing the amount of applications received for the 2017-2018 academic year.
“This year we took recruitment to another level by recruiting throughout the entire state of Alabama and adding six additional states [to our recruiting schedule],” said Richards. “We also became more visible in the community by forming better relationships with local schools as well as city and state officials. We are very excited for the upcoming school year and we look forward to a great turn out.”
In addition to the expected increase in enrollment, the college has also added several new academic programs set to be available to students this fall. A new bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies and Recreational Sports has been added, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies.
Concordia will welcome new and returning students back to campus in August, with New Student Orientation beginning on August 6th and the fall semester officially beginning on August 14th. The semester will kick off with the annual Opening Convocation ceremony on Sunday, August 13th at 3:00 p.m. in the Jenkins Center Gymnasium. Early registration is currently taking place and students will be permitted to enroll/register through August 18th by visiting Concordia’s Office of Admissions. Students may also apply online by the college’s website at goleyciyiz.com
Concordia College and Alabama Lutheran Academy alumni paid tribute to Concordia founder Rosa J. Young last Friday as they dedicated the new and improved Rosa J. Young Museum on the college’s Broad Street campus.
The museum had previously been located on the college’s Franklin Street campus. However, it was decided by the alumni association to relocate the museum to a newer, larger building on the college’s West Campus. After months of preparation and moving, the new location was finally dedicated on Friday, May 12 among alumni and friends alike.
Mrs. Gracie Hollins, museum director and alumnus of Alabama Lutheran Academy, worked tirelessly for months to achieve the remodel in order to pay proper tribute to the college’s honorable founder.

Graduates, their families, faculty and staff, alumni, the Board of Regents, and community members attended the joyous occasion where numerous awards were presented to both students and faculty/staff members.
一道本不卡免费高清Not only was each graduate recognized by his/her academic division chair, but several special awards were also given out, including graduates with academic honors, Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society students and distinguished baccalaureate degree graduates. Additionally awards were also presented to outstanding Quiz Bowl Team members, student-athletes and Student Government Association leaders.
The awards continued as students who participated in internships were recognized by the companies/organizations at which they interned. Concordia students did such exceptional work, in fact, that several were offered full time jobs on the spot by businesses such as the Lear Corporation, Wooten Law Firm, Selma Police Department, the City of Selma, and more.
Furthermore, Lear Corporation also proudly announced that 2016 Concordia graduate Yemsrach (Yemi) Hermano, who was offered full-time employment last year at Lear, has been promoted to work in their Finance Department.
It was also a proud night for several of our academic divisions, as the first-ever Nursing students graduated from the college’s brand new Health Sciences Division. The cohort of four nursing students dedicated the past year entirely to completing their Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in record time, and were also commissioned as certified parish nurses in the process. The Division of Teacher Education also proudly declared that they have had 100% placement of their graduates into teaching jobs for the past four years.
Finally, the celebratory event concluded with faculty/staff of the year awards that were voted on by the student body. Winners included Department of the Year: Division of Educatuion; Department of Admissions; and the Department of STAARS. Faculty of the year winners were Mr. Steve Shoals, Assistant Professor of Mathmatices (1st place) and Dr. Chinwe Okeke, Associate Professor of Biology (2nd place). The Staff of the Year winners were Ms. Julia Irby, Housing Department (1st place) and Rev. Coley Chestnut, Director of Student Life (2nd place).

A new academic year is almost upon us, and CCA is preparing for new students to arrive the second week in August for New Student Orientation (NSO).
During NSO, new students- both incoming freshman and transfer students- will take care of important items such as class registration, financial aid, and housing. They will also have a chance to enjoy social activities that will help them get to know their professors and CCA staff as well as fellow classmates.
Several events have been planned during the week, such as a “Meet the Greeks” event where students will be able mingle with CCA’s greek organizations, and an outdoor game day that will include a watermelon-eating contest and sumo-suit wrestling, as well as live music and an obstacle course. All events will be family friendly, where both students and parents are invited to participate.
